WMS is a small, bold charity with a big vision: helping people navigate through conflict towards peace. Founded over 20 years ago by Stephen Ruttle KC, we operate on a social enterprise model: top-tier mediators volunteer their time on commercial and workplace mediations, and fees raised support our charitable community work. We deliver conflict resolution services across Wandsworth and beyond, including mediation and coaching, alongside skills-based training in schools and organisations across the UK.

Who we are looking for
Stephen Ruttle KC has recently stepped down from the Board to become our Founder Patron, and we are now seeking a new trustee with experience in commercial and workplace mediation to fill that gap and help drive our future growth.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified and experienced commercial/workplace mediator
- Has insight into business development and strategic planning
- Can act as a key advisor to our CEO and Board
- Believes in the power of mediation and wants to give back
- Is well-connected and keen to help us grow our presence and partnerships
This is a hands-on volunteer role for someone who can help strengthen our commercial arm and increase our long-term sustainability.
Trustee commitment
- 4x in-person evening meetings in Clapham Junction (2 hours)
- 4x Zoom meetings (lunchtime, 90 mins)
- 1x Annual strategy morning (Saturday in November)
We also welcome informal strategic support between meetings – helping to spot opportunities, advise on business growth and raise WMS’s profile in the mediation sector.
